Timothy Buttram Named to BJU Symphony Orchestra

2014 Oct 9

Timothy Buttram recently earned membership in the Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra, one of three orchestras at BJU. Membership in the Symphony is by audition only, open to all students in the University regardless of major program of study.

A resident of Taylors, Buttram is a Junior Humanities major at BJU.

The BJUSO has a long and rich tradition of presenting masterworks from the orchestral repertoire in addition to mounting award-winning productions in collaboration with the BJU Opera Association. The orchestral program at BJU provides student musicians high-level career and ministry preparation while contributing to the cultural life of the student body and the greater Greenville community.

"It is a joy and a privilege to make music with such wonderful students," said Dr. Michael W. Moore, conductor of the BJUSO. "Seeing students grow as musicians and leaders while striving for excellence is so rewarding."

The BJUSO recently performed on the BJU campus with David Kim, concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra. The orchestra was also recently selected by audition to provide the featured performance at the general session of the South Carolina Music Educators Association's (SCMEA) upcoming annual conference in Columbia, South Carolina on Fri., Feb. 6.
