Taryn Flower Named to 2017 BJU Cello Choir

2017 Oct 26

Taryn Flower of Greenville was recently named to the 2017 Bob Jones University Cello Choir.

Flower is a Junior majoring in Orchestral Instrument Performance.

The BJU Cello Choir consists of both cello majors and non-majors. The group performs both original works as well as arrangements.

"It's a great privilege to lead such a talented group of musicians," says director Dr. Yuriy Leonovich. "In the last 100 years, an ensemble consisting only of cellos has become very popular, so we are blessed to have such a repertoire to choose from."

The choir will perform a recital in March, playing works of Kreisler, Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, and a special arrangement of the Adagio from Rachmaninov's Second Symphony featuring Dr. Leonovich and cello performance majors Stephen Hawkey, Derek Eilert, and Taryn Flower. The group will also perform at BJU's annual Bible Conference in February.
