Sha'Ron Brunson Earns All-Region Honors

2018 Feb 23

The National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) named Sha'Ron Brunson, a member of the Bob Jones University Bruins women's basketball team, to the NCCAA DII South All-Region teams.

Brunson, a senior journalism and mass communication major from Lancaster, was named 1st-Team All-Region.

"We're so proud of Sha'Ron and thankful she is a part of our program," Bruins Head Coach Mike LeViere said. "She has worked so hard and is an essential part of our team's success. She is a wonderful lady on and off the court and I'm happy to see the other coaches in the region recognize her play."

Brunson was the lone senior on the Bruins squad this season. She was one of the captains and helped set the tone offensively and defensively. Brunson was also voted by the coaches as the South Region Player of the Year. Over the course of the season, Brunson averaged 9.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She is nearing a milestone as she looks to become the third player in program history to score 1,000 career points.

"Sha'Ron isn't always the leading scorer or the leading rebounder but she is the most well-rounded player we have," Coach LeViere said.

The Lady Bruins earned the #2 seed for the NCCAA DII South Region playoff and will face #3 seeded Trinity College Friday night in the semifinal round. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. in Jacksonville, Florida.
