Sha'Ron Brunson Earns All-Region Awards

2017 Feb 27

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has named Bob Jones University Bruins women's basketball forward Sha'Ron Brunson 1st Team All-Region. Brunson was selected based on her performance throughout the season, with the final first team selections being voted on by head coaches in the South Region.

"These All-Region awards are a great reflection on the growth of these players on the court and as individuals," Bruins Head Coach Mike LeViere said. "For Sha'Ron, being voted on by the coaches and being named to the all-region team is a great honor and tribute to the hard work and sacrifices she has put in."

The Lady Bruins road the ups and downs of the season as the team battled through adversity and injury all season long. The team entered the NCCAA DII South Region Tournament as the #3 seed, but won three straight to capture their first region championship in program history.

Brunson, a resident of Lancaster, earned 1st Team All-Region honors after the forward had another great season. She averaged 10.6 points per game for the team while being a dominate presence inside and out on offense. She also contributed 5.2 rebounds per game even when having to fill in for injured post players.

"Sha'Ron is playing the best basketball of her life and continues to develop balance in her game as she attacks the rim off the dribble or hits the outside shot," LeViere said. "Basketball is a team game but individuals have to put in the work to become the best teammate they can be and Sha'Ron does that."

The Lady Bruins earned the #4 seed for the NCCAA DII National Tournament in Ankeny, Iowa. The team will compete in their first-ever DII National Tournament.
