Rebekah Anderson Named to University Singers at Bob Jones University

2015 Oct 9

Rebekah Anderson of Grayson has been named to Bob Jones University's University Singers, BJU's largest choral organization.

Anderson is a Freshman majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication.

All students at BJU are welcome to audition and are placed in a choral group according to their classification and abilities. Singers are re-auditioned periodically to determine proper placement.

"I'm very excited for this year's University Singers - all 119 of them," said Dr. Eliezer Yanson, who serves as conductor. "This is by far the largest group I've ever had in my six years of leading the freshman choir. I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with these talented musicians and help develop the musical gifts God has given to each one of them. This year, we have been invited by audition to present a solo concert for the South Carolina Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference in February to be held in Columbia. This is a huge honor and another first in U Singers history."

The University Singers is also preparing to go on a European tour from May 22-31, 2016 and perform in Budapest, Hungary and in Vienna and Salzburg, Austria.

The choral program at BJU is a developmental program comprised of seven graded choirs. Performances include concerts of standard choral literature, sacred service music, and the annual opera and oratorio performances. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn to use music for the service of God and to reach his individual technical and artistic choral potential within a program that strives for the highest level of musical excellence.
