Nathan Gardner Receives Gingery-Mack Scholarship

2017 Aug 31

Nathan Gardner, a freshman at Bob Jones University majoring in orchestral music performance, was one of four students to receive the Gingery-Mack Music Scholarship, a scholarship fund that provides financial aid to young Christian musicians at BJU. Gardner, a resident of Greenville, received the scholarship for his outstanding abilities on trombone.

"Nathan is an exceptional young trombonist, whose former teacher called him one of the finest students he has ever had in more than thirty years of college trombone teaching," says Dr. Dan Turner, president of the Gingery-Mack Music Scholarship Fund and director of instrumental activities at BJU. "Not only is Nathan a great player, he has been active in community events and the Greenville-area youth orchestras as well. We are thrilled that he accepted a Gingery-Mack Scholarship to attend BJU."

Founded in 2014 by alumni, friends, and faculty of BJU, the scholarship fund, through competitive auditions and interviews, seeks to identify promising young musical artists and nurture their artistic growth in the same way that professors Gail and Alice Gingery and Warren Mack did for past generations of BJU music students. The recipients cover the entire spectrum of musical arts and come from all parts of the United States to study with the faculty of BJU.
