Nathan Gardner Named to BJU 2017 Trombone Choir

2017 Sep 21

Nathan Gardner of Greenville has been named to Bob Jones University's 2017 Trombone Choir.

Gardner is a Freshman majoring in Music Education.

All BJU students are welcome to audition for the Trombone Choir at the beginning of each academic year.

"The Trombone Choir is a wonderful opportunity for students from a variety of majors across the University with a passion and desire to develop and use their musical talent," said Mr. Jantz, director of the Trombone Choir and BJU's Brass Studies program.

During the fall semester, the Trombone Choir will perform a recital of standard trombone ensemble literature and three Christmas concerts, both on campus for the student body and off-campus for the residents of Woodlands Retirement Community at Furman. Spring semester performances will include performing the national anthem at a Bruins basketball game in February and special numbers at both Bible Conference and University Chapel. In April, the choir will also be giving a sacred concert in a local church in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Trombone Choir is a permanent ensemble of 15-20 players that performs literature from the standard secular trombone ensemble repertoire in addition to sacred repertoire composed and arranged specifically for the ensemble.
