Nathan Ellenwood Named to NCCAA DII All-American Team

2018 Mar 7

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) named Bob Jones University Bruins men's basketball player Nathan Ellenwood to the All-American team for Division II. Ellenwood was voted by the coaches for 1st Team honors, becoming the first player in program history to earn 1st Team recognition. He was also voted as the NCCAA DII South Region Player of the Year.

Ellenwood, a resident of Greenville, is a sophomore sports management major.

"There is no statistical category in the game that Nate does not affect," Bruins Head Coach Burton Uwarow said. "There are a lot of skilled players but not a lot of wise players. Nate has really grown into a wise player this year and is a major contributor to our team. For him to be recognized on the national scale is an honor to him and our program."

Ellenwood has had an incredible sophomore season as he is averaging 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He has had eleven double-double performances on the season and has twice been named NCCAA DII Student-Athlete of the Week.

Ellenwood's best performance came in the final regular season game for the Bruins when he scored 38 points, snagged 13 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.

The Bruins closed out the regular season strong as they captured their second-straight NCCAA DII South Region Championship and earned the #2 seed for the national tournament.
