Nathan Ellenwood Named NCCAA South Region Player of the Year

2018 Feb 26

Bob Jones University Bruins basketball guard Nathan Ellenwood was named by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) as the Player of the Year for the South Region Division II. Ellenwood was also a 1st-Team All-Region recipient.

"Nate has been asked to do a lot for us this year and he has done really well with that role," Bruins Head Coach Burton Uwarow said. "He has taken turns being our leading scorer, leading rebounder and leading assist maker and other times he has lead in all three categories in one game. The challenge for Nate is to not be satisfied but to still keep working on all his intangibles that affect winning."

Ellenwood has had an incredible season as he is averaging 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He has had eleven double-double performances on the season and twice been named NCCAA DII Student-Athlete of the Week. His best performance came in the final regular season game for the Bruins when he scored 38 points, snagged 13 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.

Over the course of the season, Ellenwood has been instrumental in the Bruins' success. He has helped lead the team to an 18-10 record, including eleven straight wins.

Ellenwood, a resident of Greenville, is a sophomore business administration major at BJU.
