Kyle Turner Named BJU Bruins Men's Basketball Co-Captain

2014 Oct 13

Bob Jones University Bruins athletic director and men's head basketball coach Neal Ring announced today that Ray Holden and Kyle Turner will serve as co-captains of the BJU Bruins men's basketball team for the 2014-2015 season.

"This is our first year to have captains who started our program as freshmen," said Bruins athletic director and men's head basketball coach Neal Ring, " Kyle and Ray are examples of who we want to be both on and off the court. They are respected by their teammates and coaches and will work well together to lead our program."

BJU began competing in intercollegiate sports in 2012 as a Division I university with the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). Both Holden and Turner were members of the Bruins inaugural squad.

Holden, a junior Bible major from Baltimore, Maryland, led the team in 3 point field goal percentage in the 2013-2014 season shooting 47.6%. Holden is now fully recovered from ACL surgery, which he had performed in 2013, and will be a key player for the Bruins.

Turner, a junior Accounting major from Alpharetta, Georgia, is the BJU Bruins all-time leader in career rebounds (401) and blocks (29). He also holds the single game record for rebounds (15) against Tennessee Temple University.

The Bruins men tip-off the 2014-2015 season Sat., Nov. 1 as they open at home against Crown College of Powell, Tennessee.
