Kendra Jeffcott Receives NCCAA All-Region Honor

2014 Mar 20

For the second straight year, Bruins' sophomore guard Kendra has been named to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) DI South all-region team. Jeffcott led the BJU Bruins averaging 12.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. "She is a competitor who hates to lose," Coach Mike LeViere said. "She exhibits Christ-like character in humbleness, deference, respect, and love for others. She is very quiet until she gets onto the court and then she becomes the basketball player that wants to compete."

Jeffcott had her best game of the season against Clearwater Christian College in which she scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. She scored in double figures in 21 of 30 games for the Bruins. Although hampered by an ankle injury part of the season, Jeffcott was a key component in the Bruins 19-11 record this season. "She leads by example," Coach LeViere said. "Kendra is fun-loving and often has a smile on her face but is serious about her relationship with God, her family, school, and basketball. She is a great example for all of us."

In her final game this season, Jeffcott fueled the Bruins with 16 points and 14 rebounds, but the team fell to Emmanuel College 64-44 in the semi-final round of the NCCAA regional playoffs.

Jeffcott, a resident of Wilton, Calif. is a leader both on and off the court. She works hard in each practice and every game and uses that same dedication in being a standout student majoring in accounting. "When I first got to know Kendra, I knew we had a special person and player for our program," Coach LeViere said. "She is perfect for us to help lay the foundation for the future of Bruins basketball."

The Bruins guard is only through her second season of competition. Although the season is over, the future is definitely bright for Bruins women's basketball.
