Kathryn Adams Named to BJU's String Orchestra

2016 Nov 21

Kathryn Adams of Port St Lucie has been named to Bob Jones University's String Orchestra, one of two orchestras at BJU.

Adams is a Grad majoring in Performance.

All students at BJU may audition to participate in the String Orchestra which is comprised of students and staff from a variety of departments and divisions at BJU.

"It's a joy to see these young people using their talent to play an instrument to God," said Dr. Yuriy Leonovich, conductor and assistant cello professor at BJU. "While they come from a wide variety of majors and backgrounds, they demonstrate incredible unity both as an orchestra and as brothers and sisters in Christ."

The String Orchestra will perform three major concerts this year. On Nov. 16, they will host a concert featuring the works of Gershwin, R. Strauss and J.S. Bach. On March 8, the orchestra will perform Haydn's Cello Concerto in C major and Symphony No. 50. On April 24, they will perform Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin and Piano, featuring BJU music professor Dr. Brandon Ironside and his wife, Dr. Kristen Ironside.
