Kathleen Martin Participated in BJU UK Study Abroad Experience

2016 Jun 8

Kathleen Martin, a junior majoring in theatre arts, recently participated in the United Kingdom Study Abroad Experience hosted by Bob Jones University.

Martin, a resident of Brunswick, joined 11 other BJU students by touring cities throughout England and Scotland including London, Bath, Oxford, Stratford-Upon-Avon, York, Keswick, Edinburgh, and Inverness. Discussions throughout the tour focused on Christian storytellers C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.

The students also attended Shakespearean plays in the West End of London and the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, participating in discussions of religious themes within Shakespearean literature and a tour of the Globe Theatre. The trip also included a tour of Stonehenge; a tour of the Kilns, home of C.S. Lewis in Oxford; a lecture from leading C.S. Lewis scholar, Michael Ward; and a lecture and tour of Oxford University by 2005 BJU alumnus, Shakespearean scholar, and Oxford student, Micah Coston.

"The UK Study Abroad course proved to be an unforgettable educational experience for all those who went," says Dr. Paul Radford, department head of Communication Studies at BJU and tour host. "The historical sites throughout England and Scotland provided an immersive environment for rich learning experiences."
