Katherine Taylor Named to BJU Symphony Orchestra

2016 Nov 2

Katherine Taylor of North Augusta successfully auditioned into the Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra (BJUSO), the core ensemble of the university's three-tiered developmental orchestral program.

Taylor is a Freshman majoring in Orchestral Instrument Performance.

The BJUSO, a 60-piece orchestra comprising students from many of the university's majors, has a long and rich tradition of presenting masterworks from the orchestral repertoire in addition to mounting award-winning productions in collaboration with the BJU Opera Association.

"Making music together with these talented young musicians is such a pleasure," said Dr. Michael Moore, conductor of the BJUSO. "They've bonded so quickly this semester, and it is a true joy to watch them grow in every way."

Under Moore's baton, the BJUSO has been a featured performing ensemble at the South Carolina Music Educators Conference and earned an honorable mention in the final round of the 2015 college division of The American Prize. Moore also serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra.

Members of the BJUSO will be in the pit for the university's production of Little Women-The Broadway Musical, November 17-19, 2016. In April 2017 the BJUSO will be conducting a school music festival in Chicago and performing on stage at the storied Orchestra Hall, home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
