Kaitlyn Hummel Earns Scholar-Athlete Honors

2017 Dec 5

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) named Kaitlyn Hummel, a senior business administration major at Bob Jones University to the Scholar-Athlete Teams for the 2017 fall season. The recognition is given to student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.40 GPA and are a junior, senior or graduate student.

"We're very proud of each of these that were honored by the NCCAA," BJU Director of Athletics Dr. Neal Ring said. "This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our student-athletes in and out of competition."

Hummel, a resident of Florence, was named to the Scholar-Athlete team for their hard work in the classroom.

Hummel is a member of the BJU Bruins women's soccer team, who captured their third straight NCCAA DII National Championship as the team finished the season at 11-9-1..

Of the 42 BJU student-athletes eligible, 52% were named to the Scholar-Athlete team.

"The discipline and time management that these young people exhibit in balancing the high academic standards at BJU with the time commitment of being a collegiate athlete is remarkable," Ring said. "It is another demonstration of the pursuit of excellence that we're blessed to have in our programs."

The Bob Jones University Bruins are members of the NCCAA and compete in the Division II South Region.
