Joshua Rush Earns All-American Honors

2016 Nov 15

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) awarded Joshua Rush and two other Bob Jones University Bruins cross country runners with All-American Honors for the 2016 season. The selections for the All-American team are based upon finishing results at the national championship meet. The top-five finishers are awarded with the honor. The NCCAA DII National Championship meet took place Nov. 12 in Jackson, Mississippi.

"These three put in a great amount of effort throughout the season to be in position to be named All-American," Bruins cross country Coach Landon Bright said. "It was a goal for all three of them to be in contention for one of those spots and they were able to perform at the right time. It was a very difficult race, but their preparation put them in a position to finish in the top five. I'm excited for them and for our program adding more All-Americans."

Rush, a resident of Greenville, finished fourth overall with a time of 28:17.74.

It was a historic finish for the men's cross country team as they finished first overall to capture the first NCCAA DII National title in program history. This was also the first national title for any men's team in the school's history. The first place finish at nationals was the fourth top three finish for the men's team over the course of the 2016 season.
