Jayson Barnhart to BJU Bruins Men's Basketball Team

2016 Sep 2

Bob Jones University Bruins athletics director and men's head basketball coach Dr. Neal Ring announced the addition of Amherst resident Jayson Barnhart to the 2016-2017 men's basketball roster. Barnhart, a forward, joins four additional new recruits to the team.

"We're very excited about our team and the players we have joining us this year," Head Coach Neal Ring said. "I think we will have a tight-knit group that will learn to play together as we progress though the season."

Barnhart is a transfer player from Bluefield College in Lynchburg, Virginia. In high school, Barnhart averaged 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He was named Offensive Player of the Year in 2013, and the Coaches and Christian Character award in 2014.

"I want to grow stronger in my faith," Barnhart said of his decision to transfer to BJU.

Barnhart is majoring in Sports Management at BJU.

The Bruins basketball team begins the 2016-17 season on the road as they battle Asbury College in the UPIKE Classic Tournament October 28 in Pikeville, Kentucky.
