Heather Bright Named to University Singers

2013 Sep 23

Heather Bright of Greer has been named to Bob Jones University's University Singers, BJU's largest choral organization which is also known as the "freshman choir.

Bright is a freshman majoring in Culinary Arts.

All students at BJU are welcome to audition and are placed in a choral group according to their classification and abilities. Singers are re-auditioned periodically to determine proper placement.

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with these talented musicians," said Dr. Eliezer Yanson, who serves as their conductor. "These young men and women come from a variety of majors and work diligently to glorify God through the talents He has given them."

The choral program at BJU is a developmental program comprised of seven graded choirs. Performances include concerts of standard choral literature, sacred service music, and the annual opera and oratorio performances. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn to use music for the service of God and to reach his individual technical and artistic choral potential within a program that strives for the highest level of musical excellence.

The University Singers have been selected to present a 25-minute concert at the South Carolina American Choral Directors Association Fall Conference on October 11 at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. To be eligible to perform, a choir has to submit an audition recording that includes three selections of live performances from three different years.
