Emma Whitehouse Receives Gingery-Mack Scholarship

2016 Sep 8

Emma Whitehouse, a sophomore at Bob Jones University majoring in music education, was one of 8 students to receive the Gingery-Mack Music Scholarship, a scholarship fund that provides financial aid to young Christian musicians at BJU. Whitehouse, a resident of Loudon, received the scholarship for her abilities in music education.

"Emma wowed the audition committee with a great performance of Debussy," says Dr. Dan Turner, president of the Gingery-Mack Music Scholarship Fund and director of instrumental activities at BJU. "Her audition was fantastic, as was her record of community involvement and service, both of which we look for in our scholarship winners. We are thrilled that she accepted a Gingery-Mack Scholarship to attend BJU in 2015 and that her award could be renewed for this year."

Founded in 2014 by alumni, friends, and faculty of BJU, the scholarship fund, through competitive auditions and interviews, seeks to identify promising young musical artists and nurture their artistic growth in the same way that professors Gail and Alice Gingery and Warren Mack did for past generations of BJU music students. The recipients cover the entire spectrum of musical arts and come from all parts of the United States to study with the faculty of BJU.
