Elizabeth Ann Paris Serves as Orientation Leader

2017 Jun 26

Elizabeth Ann Paris of Trafalgar, a Graduate Student pursuing a degree in Communication, recently served as an orientation leader at Bob Jones University during its summer orientation events.

Orientation leaders are upperclassmen paired with faculty and administrators to connect with students at summer orientation, a two-day event hosted for incoming freshmen and new students before the start of the fall semester.

Orientation leaders connect with students before they arrive, prepare the residence halls, lead disciple group meetings, speak in student sessions, and help with student advising. These student leaders gain valuable leadership skills, develop working relationships with faculty and administrators, and enhance their resume while giving back to the university community.

"We believe peers have a significant influence on peers," said Rebecca Weier, Director of Student Engagement at BJU. "The orientation leaders we have assembled for this year's Summer Orientation are top-notch. They have excelled academically in their fields of study as well as made significant impact here on campus through their discipleship efforts and extra-curricular activities. They are eager to make new friends of the incoming students."
