Cesar Recinos Named to Bob Jones University 2017 Woodwind Choir

2017 Oct 10

Cesar Recinos of Rock Hill has been named to Bob Jones University's 2017 Woodwind Choir.

Recinos is a Senior majoring in Music Education.

Group membership is by audition, either with the Woodwind Choir director or through the Symphonic Wind Band.

This year's choir is a clarinet ensemble consisting of soprano, alto, and bass clarinets as well as an oboe. The group plays quartets, quintets, and choir literature written specifically for the group's instrumentation as well as transcriptions of works originally written for other instruments, including piano, string quartet, orchestra, and concert band.

"The Woodwind Choir is a small group, which allows more detailed individual work on ensemble playing and intonation, as well as the introduction to musical styles that are often not emphasized in the larger ensembles," said director Robert Chest, associate music professor in the woodwind department of BJU's Division of Music.

The Woodwind Choir will present a shared recital with the University Flute Choir in Stratton Hall Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. On March 14, the group will combine once again with the Flute Choir for a program of smaller ensembles that may include flutes, oboe, clarinets, and bassoon.
