Buttram Named to Collegiate Choir

2013 Oct 7

The Bob Jones University music faculty has named Timothy Buttram of Taylors to the University's Collegiate Choir.

Buttram is a Sophomore majoring in History.

The Collegiate Choir will present a recital each semester during this academic year. This semester, they will perform "Dawn, Day and Dusk," Oct. 30 on the University campus. In addition, the choir will perform at the Upstate Intercollegiate Choral Invitational Festival at Southern Wesleyan University in November and the Christmas Candlelight Tours at Biltmore Estate in December and will join the Concert Choir and Chorale for Christmas Vespers and next semester's production of Verdi's Aida.

"I enjoy the opportunity to work with these young men and women and develop their talent," said Mr. Fred Coleman, Collegiate Choir director and head of the department of church music at BJU. "This year's recitals, concerts and opera provide a number of challenging venues for the students to perform and perfect their choral abilities."

The choral program at BJU is a developmental program comprised of seven graded choirs. Performances include concerts of standard choral literature, sacred service music, and the annual opera and oratorio performances. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn to use music for the service of God and to reach his or her individual technical and artistic choral potential within a program that strives for the highest level of musical excellence.
