2015 Feb 17

Briley Hughes, a senior communication major at Bob Jones University, will serve as an intern for the Palmetto Promise Institute, formerly known as the Palmetto Policy Forum.

Hughes, a resident of Greenwood, will intern during the semester. His responsibilities include assisting with social media, gathering up-to-the minute policy content, writing on topics that interest him, providing support for development projects, staff PPI events that often featuring state legislators, and leading national policy experts, contributing to large PPI projects such as the nationally award-winning Empower Opportunity annual publication, and serving as "hands on deck" to assist with day to day operations of South Carolina's leading think tank.

The Palmetto Promise Institute is founded by influential businessmen, politicians and lobbyist from the upstate. The institute is an independent, nonpartisan educational foundation committed to policy entrepreneurship, consensus-building and transformative solutions to South Carolina's policy challenges.

"As a young and growing non-profit, time and resources are always scarce. With the support of hard-working interns like Briley, we're able to multiply our organizational effectiveness as we work to research and implement bold policy solutions that provide every South Carolinian the opportunity to flourish," said Ellen Weaver, President & CEO of Palmetto Promise Institute.
