Benjamin Hamann Named to 2017 Horn Choir

2017 Oct 19

The Bob Jones University music faculty recently named Benjamin Hamann of Raleigh to the 2017 Horn Choir.

Hamann is a Graduate Student majoring in Theatre Arts.

One of BJU's brass program ensembles, the Horn Choir is comprised of music majors as well as students in a variety of other academic programs.

Auditions for the group are held at the beginning of each semester and involve playing major scales, a chromatic scale, a portion of a prepared solo, and sight reading.

"I count it an extreme privilege and honor to work with these young people with their varied interests and talents," says director Mark Frederick, assistant professor of Music at BJU. "Participating in a music group only enhances the well-rounded education the students receive here at BJU."

Each year, the Horn Choir participates in a variety of performances. The group will present the annual Brass Festival Fall Recital in October and will play Christmas carols on Main Street in downtown Greenville in December. The choir will also perform special music in chapel and local church services.
