Angel Gillespie Participates in Missions Trip to Antigua

2013 Jun 4

Angel Gillespie traveled with twelve other Bob Jones University students on a missions trip to Antigua May 7-21. The team, led by Jonny and Kathryn Gamet, composed mostly of Journalism and Mass Communications majors, put their skills to work to impact people in that area of the world for Christ.

Gillespie, a resident of Aiea, HI, is a senior majoring in Cinema Production.

The trip was organized to assist Caribbean Radio Lighthouse, a radio station that reaches the Caribbean Islands and parts of North and South America. Team members helped through writing, editing, announcing and producing English, Spanish and French content for the station.

Emily Lewandowski , a 2013 BJU Radio and Television Broadcasting graduate, previously traveled with the Antigua team. "Going to Antigua was an amazing way to see God use broadcasting to spread the Gospel," Lewandowski said. "I was constantly reminded Christianity is not a one-time prayer, but rather a daily choice to live life differently from the rest of the world."

The team also ministered in the local communities by tutoring children in the public schools, hosting Bible clubs in the evenings and by providing music at several local churches around the island.

"We live in a media-driven society," team leader Jonny Gamet said. "One of the purposes of leading this team is to show students they can use the skills they are learning in the classroom to impact others for Jesus Christ."
