Amy Sheeter Wins Award from South Carolina Press Association

2017 Apr 24

Amy Sheeter, a sophomore majoring in graphic design at Bob Jones University and a member of the student newspaper staff, was awarded first place in the Specialty Page Design category by the South Carolina Press Association (SCPA) at the Collegiate Annual News Contest held on Friday, April 21, at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center in Florence, South Carolina. Sheeter is a resident of Sabina.

"We're proud of our staff members and their hard work during this academic year," said Betty Solomon, a journalism and mass communication professor at BJU and faculty adviser for The Collegian. "They not only provided a service to their peers by keeping them informed about their campus, but these students also gained valuable skills that will benefit them personally and professionally for years to come."

The Collegian, BJU's student newspaper, was honored in its division with 13 awards: six first place awards, three second place awards and four third place awards.

The Collegian placed third in the overall category of General Excellence among colleges and universities with under 5,000 students in South Carolina.
