Aaron "Cooper" George Named NCCAA Scholar-Athlete

2018 Mar 27

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) named Bob Jones University Bruins men's basketball player Aaron "Cooper" George to the Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2017-18 season. This recognition is given to student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.40 GPA and are a junior, senior or graduate student.

"We're so proud of Cooper for the example he sets in the classroom," Bruins Head Coach Burton Uwarow said. "Trust is a core value in our program and it is not a coincidence that the most trustworthy teammates are also the ones who shine in the classroom. Cooper will have many opportunities available to him when he graduates because he took care of business in academics."

George is a senior exercise science major from Woodruff. Over the course of his career with the team, George helped set the tone in work ethic and defense. This is the second year in a row that George has been given the academic recognition by the NCCAA.

The 2017-18 season was the best to date for the Bruins basketball team as the program won a record 22 games over the course of the season. The wins included a remarkable 15-game winning streak which began January 13 and ended in the NCCAA DII National Championship game after the Bruins fell to #1 seeded Randall University 86-84.

The Bruins athletics department features 13 varsity sports programs and are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) as a Division II institution.
