Elizabeth Heneveld Named to President's Club

In the University's chapel service Sept. 30, Dr. Stephen Jones, president of Bob Jones University, awarded Elizabeth Heneveld, a senior middle school education major from Whitmore, Calif., the Sower Award.

One of six President's Club awards, the Sower Award is given to a student who has exhibited exceptional faithfulness to the Lord in the area of soul winning or who has had an unusual soul winning opportunity.

Heneveld's nomination stated, "Bess loves to spend her discretionary time reaching out to unbelievers. She is especially burdened for youth. She spends her summers working at a Christian school that takes in trafficked and troubled teen girls.

While at BJU she counsels troubled teen girls. In the first week of this semester, girls from an underprivileged part of Greenville have called wanting to meet her. They lead difficult lives and are hungry for her evident love for Christ. Her ministry is consistent enough that is not a surprise to hear how the Lord used her witness to save someone or to help someone overcome sin and difficulty. She plans to teach at an orphanage for poor inner city kids in India once she graduates from BJU.

Not only does Bess spend time evangelizing the lost, but she has structured her life to minister Christ to needy sinners, as we all are."

Students are nominated for President's Club awards by faculty, staff and their peers, and a committee selects recipients from the nominations received. In addition to recognition in a President's Club chapel, recipients have their photo displayed in the university Student Center and enjoy dinner with the president.
